Hi!
My name is Josh and I am from Chicago, IL but have been living abroad for several years. I have lived in Mexico, Guatemala and now Dominican Republic. I am a father, husband, theology and intercultural studies major, audio visual producer and English teacher.
I have taught English to people from different backgrounds, many of my students are involved in the business world and need English to create contacts and conduct business, others want to learn English to continue their studies and others simply want to travel and be able to speak the language. I have found it helpful to break down languages into five different categories:
1. Pronunciation: We can help you speak with a native accent by going over basic phonics.
2. Sentence structure: Don't worry, if something comes up in conversation we will go over the grammar structure and practice with similar examples.
3. Fluency: We want to speak at a decent speed. The tongue and vocal chords act differently when you're speaking another language so the more we practice, the easier it will be. Fluency also has to do with not remembering the word that you want to say, that is why we will also focus on vocabulary.
4. Vocabulary: This will not only increase memory but also help prevent those situations where you get stuck and can't think of a word you want to use.
5. Comprehension: Is it hard for you to understand what you hear or read sometimes? That can be taken care of.
Let's talk! I can't wait to hear from you!
